It is with great sadness that the Franklin Volunteer Fire Department announces the passing of Ex-Chief and former Franklin Township District 2 Commissioner Edward J. Carson, age 74, who passed away on August 14, 2026.
Chief Carson joined the Franklin Volunteer Fire Department in the mid-1970s and dedicated decades of service to the department and the Franklin Township community. Through his hard work, commitment, and leadership, he rose through the ranks and proudly served as Chief of the Department.
Eddie was a deeply dedicated firefighter and public servant who earned the respect of his fellow firefighters, colleagues, and the community he served.
His years of service and commitment to the fire department have left a lasting impact, and his contributions will not be forgotten. The members of the Franklin Volunteer Fire Department extend our deepest condolences to Chief Carson’s family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing and serving alongside him.
Funeral Arrangements
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at:
St. Augustine of Canterbury Roman Catholic Church
45 Henderson Road
Kendall Park, NJ 08824
Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the church.
Interment will immediately follow at Holy Cross Burial Park in Jamesburg, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Edward Carson’s memory to the Parkinson’s Foundation or St. Augustine of Canterbury Roman Catholic Church.
